RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Augustana women's golf team finished second at the Hardrocker Fall Invite Tuesday afternoon. In a 10-team field, the Vikings shot a total stroke count of 645 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Lanie Veenendall finished in a tie for second with 156 strokes while Shannon McCormick and Masy Mock finished in a tie for ninth.

How it Happened

• Veenendall recorded five birdies throughout the invitational with three coming on the final day. Her five birdies ranked amongst the best in the tournament. She tallied 19 pars and was the third-best golfer on par-4s with an average stroke count of 4.30. 
• McCormick finished in a tie for ninth after an official stroke count of 161. She finished day one with a 79 and followed up day two with a score of 82. McCormick tallied an eagle on the 16th hole during day one. 
• Mock tied her fellow teammate McCormick with a stroke count of 161. She shot a 79 on day one and an 82 on day two. Mock was the third-best golfer on par-3s with an average stroke count of 3.25.
• Anna Eckmann finished in a tie for 15th with a stroke count of 167. She recorded her best round on day two with 83. Eckmann finished the tournament with 18 pars. 
• Payton Drefke finished out the Viking finishers with a stroke count of 172 and a tie for 23rd. Drefke totaled 14 pars through two days.

The Vikings will take the following week to prepare for the Mustang Invite in Marshall, Minnesota. The tournament begins on Saturday, Sept. 28, and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 29.
