Augustana Heads to Southwest Minnesota State for Tuesday Match

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Viking volleyball squad (6-4 overall, 2-0 NSIC) is set to hit the road to take on the No. 4-ranked Mustangs from Southwest Minnesota State for a non-conference match at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the PE Gym.

The Mustangs
SMSU—who sits fourth in the Sept. 23 AVCA/TARAFLEX poll with 978 points—currently holds a perfect 10-0 record with a 2-0 conference showing following weekend sweeps of University of Mary and Minot State. Sydney Thein fuels the attack as setter, having dished 387 assists so far this season. Thein is fifth in the nation with 11.73 assists per set while the team is first nationally at 14.33 assists per set. Saari Kuehl has totaled 122 kills to lead the offensive while McKenzie Tolk has 197 digs and 13 aces on the year, sitting sixth in the nation with 5.97 digs per set.
 
The Vikings 
Augustana heads into the week after back-to-back three-set victories at UMary and Minot State over the weekend.
 
Reagan Jansen has totaled 112 kills so far this season while Maya Wente has raked in 108 kills off a .387 hitting percentage. Kiylah Franke and Gabby Jones have each logged 105 digs on the year while Franke has also served out 15 aces.
 
Sydney Tims has made her presence known on the front line with 50 total blocks and Lucy Bartee has collected an all-around performance with 390 assists, 97 digs, 28 kills, 16 blocks and 11 aces.
 
Looking Ahead
The Vikings will return for the home opener weekend with MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m. on Friday and Northern State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
