Volleyball to Host Two Weekend Games at Elmen Center

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana volleyball (6-5 overall, 2-0 NSIC) will host its first two games in the Elmen Center of the 2024 season with scheduled conference matches against MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m. on Friday and Northern State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Dragons
MSUM is coming off a four-set loss against nationally-ranked Wayne State College on Sept. 20 and currently holds a 5-4 overall record with a 0-1 conference showing. Brielle Riess has totaled 97 kills and 18 service aces while setter Annalise Wilson has dished out 185 assists. Kiara Olesch tallied 145 digs and Abby Thompson added 33 total blocks.
 
The Wolves
Northern State sits with a 9-1 overall record and 1-1 NSIC record following a three-set loss to Wayne State College on Sept. 21. Natalia Szybinska currently leads the offensive attack with 129 kills while Keri Walker has totaled 396 assists. Abby Meister has added 196 digs and Abby Brooks has collected 40 total blocks.
 
Saturday will mark the second match between the Wolves and Vikings, having previously met during the Augustana Volleyball Classic on Sept. 6. Northern State won the five-set battle at the Sanford Pentagon, taking the final set 16-14.
 
The Vikings 
Augustana returns to Sioux Falls following a non-conference marathon five-set thriller against No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State that went down to the absolute wire. After dropping the first two sets 25-16 and 25-23, the Vikings fought back to take set three 26-24 and set four 25-21 before falling 16-14 in the fifth.
 
Reagan Jansen is currently leading the way on the attack with 129 kills while Maya Wente is hitting at a clip of .389 for 125 kills. Lucy Bartee has dished 439 assists for a 10.45 assist per set average.
 
Gabby Jones has chipped in 135 digs as Sydney Tims added 56 total blocks and Kiylah Franke has served out 16 aces.
 
Looking Ahead
Augustana will hit the road for Bemidji State on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 5.
