BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Augustana women's golf team opened 2024-25 with a victory in a 17-team field concluding Wednesday. The Vikings, competing at the Central Region Fall Preview on Tuesday and Wednesday, shot past 16 other schools to claim the victory in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Shannon McCormick and
Lanie Veenendall finished in a tie for fourth with 146 strokes.

How it Happened
- McCormick finished day one of the tournament with a score of 2-under-par and recorded five birdies on the day. She had a stretch of three holes with back-to-back-to-back birdies. On day two, she tallied two birdies for a final stroke count of 146.
- Veenendall posted a score of 1-over-par after day one with a birdie. She controlled the course on day two with three birdies.
- Anna Eckmann made her collegiate debut on Tuesday and shot 1-over-par. She finished day one with an eagle on hole 18. She followed up day two with a birdie on hole 14 and finished the tournament in a share for 10th with a stroke count of 148.
- Payton Drefke finished the tournament with a stroke count of 153 and a tie for 30th in her first outing as a Viking. She recorded three birdies on day two.
- Masy Mock finished in a tie for 39th after rounds of 80 and 75 for a total stroke count of 155. She recorded two birdies on day two.
Up Next
The Vikings will take the following week to prepare for the Hardrocker Invitational in Rapid City, South Dakota. The tournament begins on Monday, Sept. 16 and concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
