A 3-pointer from Hardy gave AU its first lead at 24-23 and then the back-and-forth ensued. Munson gained the and-one to take the one-point lead and Sanneh hit two free throws to go up 31-30, but the Beavers would take the 32-21 lead into the locker room.

The home team came storming out of the break and scored 13 straight unanswered points, holding the Vikings scoreless until Brinlee McRae dropped in a layup with 1:02 remaining in the third. BSU carried the momentum and the 47-33 lead at the end of the quarter.
