10/20/2025 10:59:00 AM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – This week, Augustana senior Max Ramberg will be introducing himself to the world stage. After earning a Greco-Roman National Championship at 97-kilograms at the U23 World Team Trials in May, Ramberg will represent the United States at the U23 World Championships. The tournament will run Oct. 20-27 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Ramberg ran the table in the World Team Trials, eventually knocking off 2025 NAIA Men's Wrestler of the Year and current Northwestern University wrestler Jesse Perez twice, first by tech fall and then by 12-6 decision, in the best-of-3 final to earn his spot on the US World Team.

97-kg action begins on Tuesday, Oct. 21 with Ramberg's competition on the Tuesday schedule. The two-time NCAA All-American will open his gold medal quest against Kyo Kitawaki of Japan. Preliminary rounds begin at 3 a.m. CT with semifinals set for approximately 10 a.m. CT. Day two for the 97 kg weight class begins with repechage matches, Oct. 22 at 3 a.m. CT and medal matches to follow at 9:45 a.m. CT.

Streaming coverage of the U23 World Championships will be available on FloWrestling.

While Ramberg competes in Serbia, the Vikings prepare to open their 2025-26 season, starting with their annual intrasquad meet on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., inside the Elmen Center.
