BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Augustana volleyball team closed out the weekend on a high note with a three-set sweep over Bemidji State on Saturday night. Augustana dominated the court in sets two and three to secure its 10th win of the season.
Kelby Opland led the attack for Augustana with seven kills.
Lucy Belisle,
Brooke Berens and
Maya Wente joined Opland with six kills. Belisle held a hitting percentage of .429.
Kiylah Franke dished out 13 assists while also posting seven digs.
Reagan Jansen,
Sydney Tims and
Clara Hoegh handed out four service aces.
After falling behind early in the first set, 8-1, Augustana clawed back with a five-point run to make it a 14-9 lead for the Beavers. The Vikings found momentum with a four-point run capped by an attack error to put AU up 20-19. The teams traded points before a kill from Belisle secured a comeback set one win, 25-23.
Set two began with both teams exchanging blows to make it 7-6 Augustana. Bemidji State tied the game on three separate occasions to bring the score to, 10-10. A five-point run started by Jansen gave Augustana the edge, 15-10. Momentum stayed in the Vikings' favor as it secured set two, 25-19.
Augustana jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the third set, but allowed Bemidji State to climb back and make it a 7-7 match. The Vikings shifted the court in their favor as a kill from Jansen capped off an eight-point run. AU continued to dominate the court and closed out the match in three sets.

Augustana returns to the court next weekend as it hosts Minnesota Crookston on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday against MSU Moorhead at 5 p.m.
