Vikings Celebrate Senior Day at Sanford Pentagon

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day inside the Sanford Pentagon on Saturday afternoon, but couldn't fend off St. Cloud State, ultimately falling, 74-60.

The loss moves the Vikings to 6-21 overall and 4-17 in the NSIC while the Huskies improve to 13-12 and 10-10.

Augustana's two seniors, Hannah Burg and Uzor Uchidiuno, were honored for their successes pre-game in their final regular season home contest of 2025.

Isabella Sanneh led with 14 points for AU as Burg followed behind with 11 points and five rebounds. Uchidiuno scored eight in her final home game of the season as Kelsey Willems dished three assists and Olivia Hayenga collected five steals.

Payton Hardy knocked down a 3-pointer to open up the game and the Huskies came right behind with seven straight points. Hayenga got the steal and layup as Sanneh got the tip-in, but the visitors stayed ahead at 16-7 with 4:25 left in the quarter.

A free throw from Sanneh and a jumper from Burg closed in at 17-10, but SCSU would score the final four points to hold the 21-10 lead.

Back-to-back layups from the Huskies started the second quarter and CJ Adamson hit two buckets of her own, putting the score at 27-14 at the 7:45 mark. Sanneh grabbed a tough jumper and Uchidiuno got the block on the ensuing possession, triggering a defensive battle.

Neither team would make a shot from the floor for the next nearly three minutes, which was broken off an and-1 opportunity from Jordan Munson. SCSU got to the free throw line and broke its field goal drought, which stifled the Viking momentum. Willems drained two 3-pointers in the final minute, but remained behind 45-27 at the half.

Second half action started with a 7-2 run for the visitors, taking the 52-29 advantage. Another 8-2 streak was added in by the Huskies but the Vikings quickly responded. Augustana rattled off 15 of the next 20 points over the final five minutes of the quarter, with four Vikings contributing and making it a 65-48 game heading into the fourth.

It was a much more contested game in the fourth quarter, with the Huskies and Vikings trading shots and fouls. But the double-digit difference lingered and, despite Uchidiuno getting the final basket of the game, AU would drop 74-60.
