MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – In hard-fought Friday night action, the No. 8 Augustana wrestling team dropped to the undefeated No. 3 (DIII) Augsburg Auggies, 22-9, on the road.
 
The loss pushes the Vikings to 7-8 overall this season as the Auggies improve to 15-0.
 
At 125, No. 3 Jaxon Rohman collected the first victory for the Vikings courtesy of strong first period momentum that saw the senior tally two takedowns. Three opponent escapes soon followed, but Rohman maintained the 6-3 lead heading into the third period. He fought off a stalling warning and gave up a takedown in the dwindling seconds of the match, but gained the upper hand off a bonus point for ride time to take the 7-6 decision.
 
In a ranked matchup at 149, No. 2 Cael Larson and No. 11 Matt Randolph locked into one of the most gritty and hard-fought matches of the night. Larson logged a first period takedown and found himself ahead 3-1 at the end of three minutes. Another escape was given up in the second and the battle was on in the third period. Larson fought off any sort of rally or momentum from his opponent to walk away victorious with the 3-2 decision.
 
No. 4 Max Ramberg found himself behind 9-1 midway through the first period, but responded with another escape and a takedown of his own. The all-out battle continued in the second period, where he added in an escape and a takedown to tie things up at 9-9. An opponent escape in the final seconds of the match combined with Ramberg's bonus point for ride time made it 10-10, forcing overtime. It took 12 seconds for Ramberg to log the match-winning takedown, securing the 13-10 sudden victory.
