Reitmeier Named NSIC Wrestling Coach of the Year

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Following a stunning showing at the NCAA DII Wrestling National Championships, Augustana head coach Jason Reitmeier has been named the NSIC Coach of the Year, league officials announced Thursday morning.

Reitmeier led the Vikings to a National Runners-Up finish at the NCAA tournament with only four competing wrestlers. Each finished in the top-five of their respective weight classes to earn All-America status, including one national champion in Cael Larson.

This was the highest placing for the Vikings since the 2009-10 season, which was the last time AU took second in the nation.

Earlier this month, the Vikings placed third at the Super Region V Tournament with four national qualifiers, with three of those four securing regional championships.

Augustana defeated five top-25 teams this season—including the then-No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country—and never left the top-10 of the NWCA Coaches Poll. The final poll before the national championships put the Vikings at No. 5, its highest ranking of the season.

This is the third career NSIC Coach of the Year recognition for Reitmeier, as he was previously honored in 2021-22 and 2009-10.
