The scoring for the Vikings started with
Maliyah Elliott after an early score by the Marauders. The quarter showed back-and-forth scoring between the two teams until the Vikings pulled ahead after a 3-pointer from Edmonds and a jumper from Elliott. The Vikings carried an 18-12 lead over the Marauders into the second quarter.
The second quarter saw the Vikings go scoreless for 5:27 of play before Edmonds ended the Marauders 11-0 run with a layup at the 4:33 mark to bring the Vikings within 23-20. A layup from Elliott pulled the Vikings within one, but the Marauders answered each with points of their own.
The Vikings continued to hang around and reclaimed the lead with 1:47 left in the half when Sanneh converted a layup off an inbound play. The lead was short lived as the Marauders answered quickly and the game went scoreless for the final 1:35 of action to give UMary at 29-28 lead at the half.
After UMary scored on a layup to open the third quarter, Elliott got a layup and Sanneh knocked one down from deep, giving the Vikings a 33-31 lead at the 7:37 mark of the quarter. The Marauders took control from there, closing the quarter on a 14-4 run to take a 45-37 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Marauders opened the fourth quarter with three points before a 5-0 Viking run, led by four Elliott points, brought them within 48-42 with 7:40 remaining. That would be as close as the Vikings would come in the fourth quarter as the Marauders went on a 15-5 run to grow its lead to 16 with 3:34 remaining. The Vikings outscored UMary 8-4 the rest of the way to bring the game to its final score.
The Vikings return home next weekend, starting with a Friday contest against Minnesota Duluth. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
