AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana football kicker/punter
Jake Pecina has been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team as a punter, announced Tuesday by the organization.
Pecina was also named to the Don Hansen All-America honorable mention list, D2CCA Football All-Super Region 3 team and is a three-time All-NSIC First Team member. The two-way special teams weapon was ninth in the country with a 43.0 punt average. A certified field flipper, Pecina stuck 16 punts inside the 20 and struck 13 punts for at least 50 yards. He also went 8 of 12 on field goals with a school-record 57-yarder against Wayne State Sept. 15.
The special teams ace adds to the Augustana football legacy that now consists of 39 CSC Academic All-America honors, including at least one in each of the last five seasons.
