Souerdyke Etches Name into Record Books After 2-0 Win Over USF

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Vikings close out a 2-0 win over the Cougars after Laina Souerdyke scores back-to-back goals in the 78th minute. Souerdyke's back-to-back goals etched her name into the second spot in the Augustana Women's Soccer Record Book for fastest consecutive goals by the same player (time elapsed) after scoring her goals within 46 seconds. No Augustana Soccer player has broken into the Top 10 since 2015.

Grace Katter tallied an assist and finished with four shots, including two on goal. Nyla Tharp added an assist off the bench. Linnea Larson played all 90 minutes in goal, made two saves and recorded a shutout.

The Vikings recorded the first shot through Paige Bracker in the 2nd minute, while Sioux Falls generated early looks of its own, including a Chloe Wilson attempt saved by Larson in the 14th minute. The Vikings followed with the half's longest attacking stretch, putting together shots from Bracker, Addison Burt and Katter around two corner kicks, with Morgan Jost making multiple saves and Sioux Falls also recording a team save. The Vikings added a late shot from Makenzie Nelson in the 42nd minute, and neither side broke through before the first half ended scoreless.

After halftime, Bracker put a shot on frame in the 51st minute before Sioux Falls generated three off-target attempts and a corner while the match remained 0-0. The Vikings built pressure later in the half with corner kicks in the 72nd and 76th minutes, followed by an Avery Heinz shot in the 77th minute. Souerdyke broke through in the 78th minute off Tharp's assist and scored again in the same minute from Katter, and Larson saved Martina Krattley's shot in the 83rd minute before the Vikings finished off the 2-0 win.
