DULUTH, MINN. — Augustana lost to Minnesota Duluth 2-0 on Monday. Augustana put five of its 10 shots on goal and forced five saves, but the Bulldogs scored once in each half.
Linnea Larson recorded five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
Madelyn White led Augustana with three shots, including one on frame, and
Avery Heinz added two shots, both on goal.
Augustana created early chances, including two shots from White in the opening eight minutes and an
Addie Fawcett shot on frame in the 20th minute. Minnesota Duluth broke through in the 24th minute when Gwendolyn Lilly scored off assists from Nora Helvig and Amelia Castleberg for a 1-0 lead. Heinz forced a save in the 44th minute, and the Bulldogs carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs added to the lead in the 53rd minute when Nora Helvig scored off Marissa VanDeHei's assist to make it 2-0. The Vikings answered with
Laina Souerdyke's shot on frame, and Larson later made saves on attempts by Ava Killian, Lauren Mcgough and Juliana Zerna to keep the margin at 2-0. The Vikings pushed forward with shots from Heinz,
Reese Geiger,
Izzie Franks and
Nyla Tharp, but neither side scored again.
