Women's Swimming and Diving Earns All-NSIC Honor On Day One Of NSIC Championships

FARGO, N.D. - The Augustana women's swimming & diving team opened the NSIC Championships on Wednesday, earning an All-NSIC finish and sit in fifth place with 135.5 points on day one at the Hulbert Aquatic Center. 

The Vikings closed the night on a high note with the 800 Free Relay. A team of Maija Kangas, Margaret Reed, Tova Blikre and Sofia Hein went toe-to-toe for the top spot, eventually placing second with a time of 7:39.43 to earn All-NSIC honors. In the B-Final, Ylva Konings, Abbey Nynas, Sofia Ospina and Ella Ward-Zeller took second in their respective race to add 18 points.

Reed was the highest finisher for the Vikings across three individual events in the 1000 Free. She placed fifth with separation on both sides as she clocked a time of 10:43.45. Behind her was Nynas, taking eighth place with a time of 10:48.34, and Konings placed 10th in 10:48.94.

In the 200 IM, Ava Brogren swam her way to the A-Final where she placed sixth following a 2:07.28 finish in the final. Audrey Johnson also earned a spot on Wednesday night, reaching the C-Final where she placed 24th with a time of 2:17.06.

Three Vikings swam on Wednesday night in the 50 Free. In the B-Final, Sofia Hein raced to an 11th place finish with a time of 24.20. Nathalia Silva also earned a spot in the B-Final and placed 14th in 24.49 while Jisella Haskamp took 21st in the C-Final with a time of 24.65.

The Vikings continue to day two of the NSIC Championships on Thursday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
