SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana women's basketball team (9-17, 6-14 NSIC) fell to the St. Cloud State Huskies (13-12, 10-10 NSIC) 86-53 in a Saturday contest at the Elmen Center.
Isabella Sanneh led the Vikings with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Kristin Edmonds found herself nine points and
Addie Hanna with seven points. Clarrisa Sauer grabbed four rebounds and added four points.
Miranda Lomax and Maliyah Elliot scored six and five points, respectively.
The game started with a 3-pointer from the Huskies but was followed by a basket from Sanneh to get the scoring kicked off for the Vikings. After a few traded scores, Augustana found a 9-2 run in 3:48 of play before St. Cloud State converted free throws to close out the run. The Huskies found a 6-0 run to end the quarter to lead the Vikings 17-13 after 10 minutes of play.
The second quarter started with Huskies again converting two free throws before Edmonds found her first points of the night with a layup. St. Cloud State found five points to Augustana's four before hitting a 10-2 run for 4:27 of play.
Edmonds ended the run with a 3-pointer but the Huskies soon found two more points. St. Cloud State ended the half with an 8-2 advantage over the Vikings, who trailed 44-26 at halftime.
St. Cloud State started out the half with a 3-pointer but the momentum was stopped after a pair of free throws from Sauer. Scoring went back and forth for much of the quarter with both the Vikings and the Huskies scoring 16 points.
The final 10 minutes of the game saw the Huskies find their groove slowly increasing their lead. The Vikings found some big plays in the final quarter including a 3-pointer from Hanna and a converted and-one from
Ava Pautz. St. Cloud State rounded out the last 5:51 of the quarter on a 16-3 run to defeat the Vikings 86-53.
