SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana baseball team closed its second home series of the season on Sunday, defeating Minnesota Duluth 12-7 and 10-5 to stay unbeaten at Ronken Field.

Cal Schmelzle had four hits and scored three runs to lead an offense that had 18 hits in the game.
Carter Heinsch added three hits, two RBI and three runs scored while
Jake Lundquist and
Troy Berg had two hits apiece.
Ethan Hoffman (2-0) had another impressive outing, allowing three hits and striking out eight in five innings of work.
Logan Von Berge entered, allowing four runs, three earned, in 1 1/3 innings and Josiah Peterson allowed three unearned runs without recording an out.
Jadon Bast got the Vikings out of the seventh with a pair of outs and
Ryan Clementi threw the final two innings, striking out five.Â
The offense was early and often for the Vikings. Eikmeier was plunked and got to third after hits from Weigel and Berg to load the bases. Heinsch followed with a double to bring in a pair and Lundquist added two more with a double of his own.Â
Koskie kept the scoring going with an infield single and then moved to third on a single and throwing error off the bat of
Cal Schmelzle.
Cole Goeser delivered a sac fly to bring in Koskie, Lind walked and Eikmeier hit a sac fly of his own to close a seven-run top of the first.Â
In the second, Heinsch hit another double and moved to third on a Lundquist single. With one out, Schmelzle delivered an RBI single while a fielder's choice and error off the bat of Lind brought in another to make it 9-0 AU.Â
In the fourth, Schmelzle, Goeser and Lind opened the inning with singles as Lind's would bring Schmelzle home to bring the 10th run across. Schmelzle doubled in the sixth to lead off the inning and would come around on a
Bryson Bohannon single up the middle to make it 11-0.Â
In the seventh inning, Heinsch crossed the plate on a fielder's choice to put the Vikings up 12-0. UMD charged back in the seventh, scoring seven runs to continue the game, but that would round out the scoring as the Vikings held on to win.

Schmelzle added two more hits while Eikmeier had three and Lundquist added two hits and three RBI to lead another double-digit run total.Â
Riley Rothschadl allowed two hits and a run in three innings of work to start.
Myles Hanson (1-0) threw the next three innings, allowing four runs and striking out seven.
Joel Van De Stroet made his season debut with two strikeouts in a scoreless frame and Schmelzle added two scoreless innings to finish the win.Â
Another big first inning helped put the Vikings in front. With two outs and Weigel on third, Heinsch walked and Lundquist and Schmelzle each picked up infield hits to score a run and load the bases. Sutton cleared the bases with a double off the right field wall to give AU a 4-0 lead.Â
The Bulldogs would score a run in the second inning but the Vikings countered with two in the third. Berg singled and Heinsch drew a walk to open the inning. Lundquist laid down a sac bunt to move them over, but the ball got thrown away to score Berg. As UMD tried to recover, Heinsch creeped down the third base line before taking off, crossing home and making it 6-1 AU.Â
A two-out, three-run home run in the fourth inning brought the Bulldogs within 6-4. Lundquist hit a solo shot in the fifth inning to pad the lead but the Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the inning to get back within two.Â
In the seventh inning, Eikmeier singled and reached second after Weigel was plunked for the third time on the afternoon. Heinsch was intentionally walked to load the bases and Lundquist drew a walk to score Eikmeier and make it 8-5 and Weigel had a two-run single in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.Â
The Vikings will be back in action Feb. 26-28 at Colorado Mesa.
