SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana baseball team (15-5, 9-0 NSIC) closed a three-game set with Jamestown (5-16, 1-8) on Friday afternoon, winning 10-7 at Ronken Field.
Carter McPeak and
Jake Lundquist each had two hits and three RBI while scoring a run to lead an offense that had 10 hits.
Nate Soelter added two hits and scored a run.
Drew Ball allowed a pair of runs in 3 1/3 innings to start.
Ryan Clementi went the next 2 2/3 innings, striking out three while allowing two runs, one earned.
Jadon Bast gave up two more runs before
Maddox Foss and
Adam Diedrich combined for four strikeouts in two scoreless innings.
Will Henry finished the night allowing a run on two hits while throwing the ninth.
The Jimmies struck first in the second before a two-run blast from Lundquist gave the Vikings the lead. In the third, Pinnow lifted a sac fly to bring in Heinsch and McPeak stayed hot with an RBI single to make it a 4-1 Viking advantage.
In the fourth, the UJ scored three runs to even the score at 4-4. With two outs in the fifth, McPeak broke the tie with a two-run double, scoring Pinnow and Weigel and making it 6-4 AU. Weigel followed it in the sixth with an RBI sac bunt to grow the lead to 7-4.
After a pair of runs from the Jimmies in the seventh, the Vikings took advantage of a leadoff error off the bat of Pinnow. McPeak walked and Goeser moved both into scoring position with a sac bunt. Lundquist drove in one with a single before Eikmeier drove in the other with a groundout. Pinnow added an RBI groundout in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.
The Vikings return to action at St. Cloud State next weekend with two games Saturday and one on Sunday.
