LIBERTY, Mo. – Augustana split a Friday doubleheader with William Jewell in Liberty, Missouri, earning an 8-5 win in the opener before falling 4-2 in the nightcap.

Susie Tollefson drove in three runs while
Desi Cuevas and Tollefson each homered to lead Augustana to the win in the opening game.
Jaelyn Garcia earned the victory in relief while
Ella Cooper recorded the final five outs to pick up the save.
William Jewell jumped out early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, capitalizing on a double from Mikayla Chairez and an RBI double from Alexa Almejo to take a 3-0 lead.
The Vikings answered in the second inning.
Norah Christiansen delivered an RBI single that scored
Sidney Smart and later came home on a fielder's choice by
Andrea Cain to cut the deficit to 3-2.
After the Cardinals added a run in the bottom half of the inning, Augustana surged ahead in the third.
Claire Wynja opened the inning with a double and
Kierra Lubovich followed with a walk before Tollefson ripped a two-run triple to tie the game. Smart then grounded out to bring home Tollefson and give the Vikings a 5-4 lead.
Cuevas extended the advantage in the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field. Augustana added another run in the sixth when
Briana Lee doubled and later scored on a Cain RBI groundout to make it 7-4.
William Jewell trimmed the deficit to two runs in the sixth on an RBI single from Amanda Chung, but the Vikings answered immediately in the seventh when Tollefson launched a solo home run to left field.
Cooper closed the door in the bottom of the inning, retiring the side to secure the 8-5 victory.

Claire Wynja crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by
Susie Tollefson to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
William Jewell tied the game in the fourth inning as a pair of runs scored on a throwing error, evening the score at 2-2.
The Cardinals took the lead in the fifth inning. After a walk and stolen base set up the rally, Amanda Chung delivered a two-run double to right center to push William Jewell ahead 4-2.
Augustana was unable to answer against Cardinals pitcher Katie Heckman, who went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out one.
Cain and Lubovich each recorded two hits to pace the Vikings offensively in the second game.
