The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award is presented annually to a women's golf student-athlete who has competed at their institution for four years, is academically superior and has made a positive contribution to their team and university. The award honors a senior who exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete through excellence in athletics, academics and community engagement.
Veenendall, a native of New Richmond, Wisconsin, is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry and a concentration in pre-pharmacy at Augustana. She carries a 3.71 cumulative grade-point average.
On the course, Veenendall has been one of the top performers in the NSIC throughout her career. She was named the 2024-25 NSIC Women's Golfer of the Year after earning NSIC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2022-23. A three-time All-NSIC first team selection, she has competed in 27 rounds over 12 events during the 2024-25 season, recording four top-three finishes and averaging 76.3 strokes per round, including a season-low round of 67 at the NCAA Central Regional. For her career, she owns a 76.2 scoring average and is averaging 75.8 during her senior season. She has also earned multiple NSIC Player of the Week honors.
In the classroom, Veenendall has been recognized as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection twice and is a three-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar. She has also been named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.
Beyond athletics and academics, Veenendall has been active in the community and on campus. A member of the Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she has volunteered with the Sioux Falls Humane Society, Sioux Falls Marathon, Make-A-Wish, Folds of Honor and the Sanford International, while also assisting with community service projects supporting local residents.
"We look forward to witnessing Lanie's accomplishments following graduation," said Head Coach
Coralee Jorgensen. "She is moving to graduate school to become a pharmacist, which has been a long-term goal she has worked hard to achieve. Lanie is a born leader as our team chaplain and captain, and she consistently supports her teammates both on and off the course. We could all be so fortunate to have a pharmacist like Lanie."
