Game one: Augustana 2, Winona State 0
Gomez was dominant, striking out 10 and allowing three walks on 94 pitches. He induced four groundouts and four flyouts while facing the minimum. The Warriors were picked off, caught stealing and grounded into a double play for an unconventional 21 up, 21 down.
The offense had just three hits, although Gomez made it easy to manage.
Ragan Pinnow had a hit and a walk while scoring a run.
Bjorn Lind and
Ryan Clementi had a hit apiece as well while Clementi added an RBI.
Troy Berg also reached on a pair of walks.
In the second inning, the Vikings struck first. Pinnow and Berg walked before a pair of strikeouts threatened to end the opportunity. Clementi broke through from there, driving a single to left center scored Pinnow and make it 1-0. In the third, Berg was able to produce a run on a sac fly to short right field off the bat of
Joshua Koskie to bring the game to its final score.
Gomez followed the sac fly by striking out the side on 14 pitches in the fifth. In the sixth, he bookended the inning with a comebacker and a strikeout. In the seventh, Gomez struck out the leadoff hitter and forced a flyout for the first two outs. The third out was one of his quickest, forcing a groundout off a check swing to first base to complete the masterpiece.
Game two: Winona State 5, Augustana 4
Pinnow,
Bjorn Lind and
Carter McPeak each had a pair of hits in game two.
Nate Soelter drove in three and scored a run with a home run and
Kobe Eikmeier added a hit, run and RBI.

Carson Walker got a pair of outs and allowed a run in the seventh inning.
Adam Diedrich walked three and got the final out of the inning.
Jadon Bast threw a pair of innings, striking out three but leaving with a pair on and nobody out in the 10th.
Joel Van De Stroet was summoned from the pen, allowing a walk-off single to the only batter he faced.
In the third inning, McPeak led off with a single and moved to second with two outs. Eikmeier came up clutch, driving a double down the left field line to take a 1-0 lead.
The Vikings would take advantage of free passes to extend their lead in the fifth. With one out, Lundquist drew a walk and Eikmeier got hit to force a pitching change. Soelter provided a cold welcome, hitting a three-run blast to left field to grow the lead to 4-0.
The Warriors hit a three-run home run of their own to get within 4-3 through five innings of action. That score held until a bases-loaded walk with two outs helped WSU even the score at 4-4. In the 10th, WSU finished off its comeback victory to salvage the sweep.
Augustana returns to action this weekend, taking on Northern State on Saturday and Sunday in Aberdeen, S.D.
