PITTSBURG, Kan. - The No. 17 Augustana baseball suffered its first loss of the NCAA Regional tournament, falling 7-1 to No. 3 Pittsburg State on Friday night at Al Ortolani Field.
With the loss, the Vikings will take on the eighth-seeded Arkansas Tech in an elimination game at 1 p.m.

The Vikings scattered two hits as
Nate Soelter had a hit and RBI while
Maddox Foss added a hit and a run scored.
Troy Berg added the third hit in the ninth inning.
Ethan Hoffman gutted out seven innings, allowing four runs and striking out four on nine hits while throwing 107 pitches.
Will Henry struck out a hitter in a scoreless eighth and
Myles Hanson allowed three runs in the ninth.Â
In the top of the third, the Gorillas broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff blast to make it 1-0. A double play would give PSU two quick outs in the bottom of the inning but a
Maddox Foss single sparked a rally.
Brandon Weigel would walk on four pitches and
Nate Soelter dumped a single to right field, scoring Foss to even the score.Â
That would hold until the Gorillas scored a pair with two outs in the fifth inning to regain the lead and added a solo home run in the seventh to increase their lead to 4-1. They would add three more with a pair of triples and sac fly in the ninth to finish off the win.Â
