BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana men's golf was picked to finish fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Henry Hartquist was selected as a Viking to watch.
"The thing that excites me about the 26-27 Augustana Vikings Men's Golf Team is the combination of youth and experience," said head coach
Mike Krsnak. "We were a young team last year with the exception of one senior in the top five, so I am expecting this team to make a big jump based on our young guy's experiences from last year. Finally, we had a strong recruiting class to the competition and looking forward to what our freshman can add to this team."
Krsnak continued, "Henry achieved second team all-conference last season as a sophomore. He is the engine of our team. He leads with high standards on and off the course. His work ethic is second to none on the team. For example, when we are on the road, he is always the first at breakfast because he has been up an hour or two studying before the round."
Hartquist, a Luverne, Minnesota native, finished as an All-NSIC Second Team honoree after recording an average score of 73.9 over 23 rounds. He also finished last season with three top-three finishes.
