ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Augustana fell to No. 8 St. Cloud State, 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 23-25) on Friday at Halenbeck Hall. The Vikings hit .260 and totaled nine blocks, but the Huskies held a 10-1 advantage in service aces.
Augustana totaled 16 kills in the opening set, matching SCSU's attack production, and added two blocks. The Huskies had the edge at the service line with four aces, while AU recorded one ace and one service error. With both teams also finishing with two attack errors, SCSU took the set 25-22.
The Vikings recorded 13 kills and three blocks in the second set while limiting their errors to four on the attack and one at the service line. The Huskies answered with 14 kills, two aces and two blocks, adding enough offense to stay in front by the end of the set. SCSU closed the set 25-20.
Augustana kept the third set tight with 10 kills and six blocks, while SCSU finished with 15 kills. The Huskies added four service aces, and AU committed seven service errors in the set. The teams stayed within a narrow final margin, with SCSU taking the set 25-23.
