Sam Milanovich was a native of Aliquippa, Pa. Sam was a student and basketball player at Augustana College from 1970-73.
After graduation, Milanovich coached at Lennox and Chamberlain (S.D.) High Schools, South Dakota State University, John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D.
Milanovich died of cancer on July 29, 1992. His family includes his wife, Chris, four children, Sam, Nicholas, Stacey, and Elizabeth, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Danielle, and sister and brother-in-law Milana and Larry Milosh.
His dad died in March 1999 and his mother passed away in 2008. Throughout his lifetime, Milanovich was a vibrant and dynamic personality. He left a distinct and lasting impression on all those he met and in each community in which he lived.
He was a master storyteller and a weaver of good times and had a way of making people laugh and feel good about themselves. Milanovich was truly a positive influence for all those who knew him. Augustana College is pleased to be associated with this annual golf tournament named in honor of Sam Milanovich.
