High School: Welter has started three seasons and will be a team-captain for the Hawks this season. He hit .275 with six extra base-hits while helping Chaska to a conference runner-up. His sophomore season was dominant, hitting .363 with a 1.004 OPS while earning All-Conference and All-Section honors.

Personal: Matthew is the son of Emily and Eric Welter. He is undecided on his major.
