High School: Simms is a three-year starter and senior captain for the Lafayette Fighting Irish. While playing on the defensive line as a senior, he had 30 tackles, two forced fumbles and a sack while being named all-conference honorable mention.

Personal: Ja’Marion is the son of Erica Simms. He plans to major in computer information systems.
