Brett Chambers enters his 20th year as the strength and conditioning coordinator for all Augustana sports in 2024-25. Prior to his current role, Chambers spent three years as the football team’s strength and conditioning coach.  

Chambers came to Augustana following a five-year stint at the University of South Dakota, where he worked from 1999-2003. During his first four years with the Coyotes, Chambers was the defensive line coach and was the athletic department’s strength and conditioning coordinator. In 2003, he was promoted to defensive coordinator and coached linebackers. During his five years at USD, Chambers was the strength and conditioning mentor to eight players who went on to play in the National Football League.  

Chambers spent the 1998 season as a graduate assistant at the University of Iowa. As a member of the Hawkeyes’ staff he worked with defensive ends. He began his coaching career in 1997 as the defensive line coach at Iowa Wesleyan College.  

Chambers, a native of Treynor, Iowa, was a three-year letter winner and started 14 games at outside linebacker for Iowa from 1992 to 1996. During his career, the Hawkeyes won the 1995 Sun Bowl and the 1996 Alamo Bowl.  

Chambers graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health management from Iowa in 1996. 

He completed a master’s degree in exercise science at USD in 2000.  

Chambers resides in Sioux Falls with his wife Amber and their sons, Creighton, and Boden.
