Eric Weisser

Eric Weisser enters his ninth season as an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Augustana in 2021-22.

In 2021, Weisser helped the women’s team to their 11th straight NSIC regular season title and 10th consecutive NSIC Tournament title. The women’s team held an 18-3 record, while going 11-0 in conference play and ended the season at the central region against Washburn. Weisser helped Valeriya Monko to her first NSIC Freshman of the Year and NSIC Player of the Year award. Laura Arce Vierya, Florentia Hadjigeorgiou, and Valeriya Monko all earned NSIC All-Conference first team honors in singles and doubles with Grace Goble also earning NSIC All-Conference in doubles. Margarita Chouliara earned NSIC All-Conference second team honors in singles. Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson earned NSIC All-Conference second team honors in doubles. Grace Goble and Aleksandra Kistanova both earned NSIC All-Conference honorable mention in singles. 

On the men's side in 2021 Weisser helped the team to a record of 4-8.

In 2020, Weisser helped the women's team to an undefeated regular season going 13-0. Weisser helped two athletes achieve a perfect NSIC record in Aleksandra Kistanova and Anca Rusu. Rusu and teammate Taylor Jackson also had a perfect record in doubles play. Remainder of the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

On the men's side in 2020 Weisser helped the team to a record of 3-6. Remainder of the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

During the historic 2018-19 season, Weisser helped the women's team achieve their 100th straight conference victory. The women's team also won their 10th straight NSIC regular season title and their ninth consecutive NSIC tournament title on their way to a 19-3 record and a birth in the NCAA Central Region against Northwest Missouri State. On the men's side he helped the team to a record of 9-10.

In 2017-18, Weisser helped the women's team to their ninth straight NSIC regular season title and their eighth consecutive NSIC tournament title. The women finished the season with a 21-4 record and a spot in the NCAA Central Regional against Oklahoma Baptist. On the men's side he helped the team to a record of 7-9.

In 2016-17, Weisser helped the women's team to their eighth straight NSIC regular season title and their seventh consecutive NSIC tournament title. Weisser helped the women's team to a 16-6 record and ended the season at the Central Regional against SE Oklahoma State. Weisser assisted in Kornelia Staniszewska earning her second straight NSIC Player of the Year Award and Taylor Jackson earning the NSIC Freshman of the Year. Staniszewska, Jackson and Berkley Darr each earned first team All-NSIC honors in both singles and doubles. Meredith Lawrence earned first team All-NSIC in doubles and second team in singles and Christine Olivo earned honorable mention in singles. Staniszewska also earned Oracle/ITA Division II All-American honors in singles for the second straight year.

On the men's side, Weisser helped the team to a record of 6-8 on the season. The highlight of the season came on Feb. 8 when the team knocked off South Dakota State, 5-4.

Weisser helped guide Kornelia Staniszewska to NSIC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. Staniszewska was also named ITA Region Rookie of the Year. At the national level he also helped Jessa Ricjards earn ITA/Aruther Leadership and Sportsmanship honors.

In 2016 the Vikings produced six singles all-conference performers and three teams earn all-conference doubles honors under the guidance of Weisser.
 
Weisser brings an extensive resume to Augustana having racked up over 250 wins as a high school tennis coach. Weisser is the President of the Sioux Falls Tennis Association and spent the 2013-14 season as the head boy’s tennis coach at Washington High School, leading the Warriors to a fourth-place finish in the state tournament in 2014.
 
He is also on the United States Tennis Association Northern Section Awards Committee and the Junior Team Tennis committee. Weisser is the co-founder of the Mankato Area Junior Team tennis program and is a member of several southern Minnesota USTA League Area Champion teams.
 
Prior to his post at Washington, Weisser was the head boys and girls tennis coach at Mankato West High School where he was named the Section 2AA Coach of the Year in 2010. Weisser spent the 2001-03 seasons as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Minnesota State University. He was a second-team All-NCC honoree and Minnesota State in 1999 and eventually graduated from Winona State University with a degree in business administration.
 
Weisser is currently the Vice President of Sales at Weisser Distributing in Tea and resides in Sioux Falls with his wife Emily and their three-year old son Liam.
