Haley Covias has over seven years of experiences in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference as both a student-athlete and a coach. She joined the Augustana staff in the 2021 season, helped the Vikings advance to the Final 8 of the NCAA Tournament, win the NCAA Central Region Championship and the NSIC Championship.

Covias played for Northern State in 2013 as a freshman and would then transfer to Sioux Falls where she would help USF qualify for the NSIC Conference Tournament and set a school record for D2 wins.

She joined the Sioux Falls coaching staff in 2017 after graduation helping lead the Cougars to a 31-19 record and their fifth-straight trip to the NSIC Tournament.

In 2019, Covais became an assistant coach at St. Cloud State where she would help lead the Huskies back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in nine years. They would end the season 43-19, posting their best record since 2003.

While coaching at SCSU there were multiple student-athletes with earned postseason accolades in 2019. Those include All-NSIC Second team honors, NSIC Golden Glove winner, and All-Region Honors.

Prior to St. Cloud State, Covais would coach with Kelsey Thompson on the Sioux Falls Steel, a highly successful 16U (42-16) and 18U (43-4) teams. In 2019 the Steel claimed first place finishes in the USSSA Early Bird Invite, Nikki G Invite, South Dakota State Tournament, Rigneck Tournament, and ASA A 18U Northern Nationals.

Covais is a native of Lennox, South Dakota. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Sioux Falls and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sports administration.
