Kim Bazata (Westendorf) joined the Augustana softball staff for the 2017 as the pitching coach.
Bazata also works as the head softball coach at Washington High School and coaches the Sioux Falls Diamond Gold Team.
A native of Mankato, Minnesota, Bazata played three seasons at South Dakota State from 2005-07. She compiled a 34-52 career record at SDSU, recording five shutouts and five saves. She compiled a 3.19 ERA in 118 appearances for the Jackrabbits and struck out 364 batters in 520.1 innings pitched.
Bazata earned Division I All-Independent team honors twice and Division I All-Academic Team three times. She then transferred to North Dakota State where she played one season and helped the Bison to an NCAA Super Regional appearance.
Bazata brings over 20 years of coaching experience, primarily working with pitchers.
