Kirk Wilson is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Augustana softball program in 2016. Wilson joined the staff in the fall of 2015 and will work with the Viking pitching staff.

Wilson, a native of Hannibal, Missouri, brings over 40 years of softball coaching experience to Augustana. Wilson has coached summer softball in Missouri since the 1970’s and has an extensive playing background as well.

Wilson was inducted into the Missouri A.S.A Hall of Fame in 1995 following a 20-plus year fastpitch playing career for the O’Donnells team from Hannibal. His teams won three state and one regional championship, and in 1991, Wilson was chosen as the Most Valuable Player and All-American at the Men’s Masters National Championship held in Springfield, Mo.
He was named second team All-American in 1992 and he posted a career pitching record of 362-129 with a 1.42 ERA. Wilson posted a 14-6 record in the national tournament and threw 42 no-hitters and four perfect games while striking out over 3,600 batters in his career.

Wilson is no stranger to how the Augustana softball program is run as he spent two seasons as a pitching coach at Culver-Stockton with Gretta Melsted.

Wilson and his wife Kathy are the parents of five children and the proud grandparents of five.Â
