Theresa McMahon, Augustana’s career home run leader, continues her association with Vikings’ softball as a graduate assistant coach.

McMahon hit 43 home runs in her four seasons (2010-13) at Augustana and shares the single-season record for most round-trippers with 18. She is also tied for most home runs in a game (3).

Other career achievements include fourth for most walks (79), seventh for slugging percentage (.626), eighth in on base percentage (.433), ninth in runs-batted-in (131), ninth in total bases (363), and 10th in runs scored (149).

After her senior season, McMahon was named to the Daktronics All-America second team. She led the Vikings with 59 hits, 36 runs, and a .457 on base percentage. She was second in batting average (.353) and RBI (28).

As one of the most versatile players in Gretta Melsted’s tenure as Augustana’s head coach, McMahon was assigned the catcher’s role her senior season and executed 256 fielding attempts with just one error.

McMahon was cited as a Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaching Association All-Region choice in 2012 and 2013. She was chosen to the Daktronics All-Region first team in 2013.

A two-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team pick in 2012 and 2013, McMahon was also selected to the league’s all-tournament teams in 2012 and 2013. She was named the NSIC player of the week for April 17, 2012, and twice was included on the academic All-Conference team.

In her four seasons, McMahon helped the Vikings to a 181-54 record. She was a part of two conference championships, a region title, a super region crown, and a berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament.

McMahon was chosen to the Capital One Academic All-America third team in 2012, marking the first Academic All-American for Augustana softball since 1998.

“T-Mac” majored in elementary education at Augustana and graduated in May, 2013.
