Katie Bourk

Katie Bourk enters her tenth season as an assistant coach with the Augustana women’s basketball program in 2022-23. This season will be Bourk’s twelfth season overall with the Vikings, after serving as a graduate assistant from 2011-13.

In the 2021-22 season Bourk assisted the Vikings in a 13-11 winning record. She helped lead Junior Aislinn Duffy to a NSIC First Team All-Conference nomination, along with teammates Vishe' Rabb and Lauren Sees who were named NSIC Second Team All-Conference.

The 2017-2018 season was a record-setting year for the Vikings. Bourk helped Augustana get off to the best start in program history at 14-0, and finished the season with a 29-4 record, passing the 2013 Final 4 team for the most wins in program history.

Logan O’Farrell capped off a three-peat as NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, leading the conference in steals for the third time in her career. She was also named First Team All-NSIC and was a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American.

The Vikings won a share of the NSIC regular season title for the first time in program history and won the NSIC South for the second year in a row. The Viking women went on to win the NSIC Tournament, the second time they have won the tournament in the last five years. Augustana hosted the NCAA Central Regional Tournament for the first time, where the team made a run to the Sweet Sixteen in their 14th overall NCAA Tournament appearance.

Bourk was named to the 2017-2018 WBCA “Thirty Under 30” honoree list. The WBCA award is presented by the Marriott Rewards program to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship, professional manner, and professional association involvement.

In her second year as a graduate assistant coach with the Vikings in 2012-13, Bourk helped coach the team that set a single-season school record for wins (28), which included being the NSIC Tournament and Central Region Tournament champions. The Vikings advanced to the national tournament semifinals by eliminating previously unbeaten and nationally top-ranked Clayton State in the opening round. Augustana’s unprecedented run came to an end against Dowling College in the semifinals. The Vikings were ranked No. 4 in the final USA Today Sports Coaches Poll and were NCAA Tournament qualifiers for the 13th time.

In ten years with the Vikings, Bourk has been a part of seven-20 win seasons, three NCAA Tournament Appearances, two NSIC Tournament Championships, one Central Region Championship, and one Elite 8 and Final 4.

A native of Blunt, South Dakota, Bourk graduated from Sully Buttes High School in 2006, and went on to play at Dakota State University. From 2006-2008, Bourk served as a student assistant coach, where the Lady T’s made it to the NAIA National Tournament, reaching the Sweet-16 in 2008. In her first season as a player, she picked up All-Dakota Athletic Conference honors in 2009 after averaging 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. Bourk ranks sixth all time at DSU in career 3-pointers made and in 3-point field goal percentage.

Bourk resides in Sioux Falls and earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from DSU in 2011. She earned her master's degree in sports administration and leadership from Augustana in 2014.
