Katie Hurd

Katie Hurd joins the Vikings’ coaching staff in 2014 after a successful playing career with Augustana.
 
The Gretna, Neb. native spent five seasons (2009-13) manning the midfield for the Vikings under head coach Brandon Barkus. Hurd was an All-NSIC selection in 2013 (first team) and 2011 (second team). In 2013, Hurd helped guide the most potent offense in Augustana history. The Vikings set new team records in points (113), and assists (35) for a single season. The former midfielder set new career-highs in points and assists in during her senior campaign.

The former Grenta High School also received the team’s Ironwoman Award in 2012 after overcoming a season-ending injury just one game into the season. Hurd was also named Academic All-NSIC on three occassions.

Following her playing career, Hurd spent the 2014 summer as a member of the Des Moines Menace, a member of the WPSL. She also played for the Menace in the summer of 2013.  Hurds holds a USSF National E coaching license.
 
Hurd currently resides in Sioux Falls.
