Clayton Wahlstrom enters his second season as a graduate assistant coach for the Augustana wrestling program in 2020-21.

Wahlstrom helped guide the 2019-20 Vikings to a 10-4 dual record and 6-2 NSIC record with five wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Despite being picked fourth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll, Augustana finished second in the NSIC standings and took third-place at the Super Region 5 Tournament. Individually, Wahlstrom saw two Vikings garner All-America honors, three wrestlers qualify for nationals and nine wrestlers win tournaments throughout the regular season.

Wahlstrom wrestled at Augustana under Coach Jason Reitmeier from 2014-2019. He compiled an overall record of 101-57 and an overall dual-record of 30-12. He went 14-5 in the NSIC and finished his career with 13 falls, two tech falls, one major decision, and 142 takedowns. 

During his senior season, Clayton went 26-11 and was undefeated in duals (8-0) and in the NSIC (7-0). He recorded six falls, one tech fall, and one major decision. He was named to the 2nd team All-NSIC squad and earned All-American accolades with his fourth place finish in the 197 pound weight class at the NCAA championships. 

Walhstrom took fifth place at the Super Region 3 Championships tournament as a junior with a 2-2 record. He also went 2-2 at the Super Region 3 Championships tournament as a freshman. 

A 2014 graduate of Custer High School Clayton was a four-year starter and letterwinner. He collected a pair of third-place finishes in the South Dakota Class B State Championships as a senior and junior and finished his career with a 144-32 record, qualifying for the state meet three times. He won the Class A state championship in the pole vault in 2013.

Clayton was born on Nov. 19, 1995 to parents, Justin and Misty Wahlstrom.Â
