A 2009 graduate a former team captain for Augustana, Joe Nordin has held several roles on the Vikings coaching, currently serving as the kicking coach since 2018.
In 2025, the Vikings weathered adversity on their way to a 9-2 record. AU reached the top-five of the AFCA Coaches Poll for the first time in program history and tied a program-record with nine wins to open the season. 11 Vikings earned All-NSIC honors, two were named All-Region and kicker/punter Jake Pecina was named to the CSC Academic All-America Second Team.
The Vikings have earned three NSIC titles during Nordin's tenure. Jake Pecina was named an All-NSIC First Team kicker in 2023 and 2024 while Avery Book was an All-American punter in 2023.
Nordin was a graduate assisting with Augustana for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, working with running backs and kickers while also serving as a student assistant in the 2008 season.
Sandwiched between his first two stints with Augustana, Nordin was a graduate assistant at Tiffin University working with the defensive line and kickers.
A native of Lake Lillian, Minnesota, Nordin was the Vikings punter for four seasons and was named the NCC Special Teams Player of the Week on five occasions. He served as team captain in 2007, his senior season. He garnered his degree in elementary education from Augustana in 2009.
