Mike Bond

Mike Bond was added to the Augustana coaching staff in the spring of 2026.

Bond was with the Golden Bears for nine seasons as a defensive backs coach, assistant recruiting coordinator and defensive passing game coordinator. Last season, his group touted a pair of defenders that ranked in the top-15 in the NSIC for pass deflections and two of his recruits were named All-NSIC Second Team.

He also spent the summer of 2025 with the Kansas City Chiefs as their Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellow. With the Chiefs, Bond was included in full-staff and defensive meetings where they focused on install schedules, teaching progressions and scheme introductions. With the defense, he broke down practice film and charted turnovers and pass deflections while tracking rep counts and participation periods. He also organized the scour offensive looks and passing concept for defensive preparation.

He has two years of prep football coaching experience, spending the 2015 and 2016 seasons on the staff at Menomonie High School.

Bond's background transcends the football field, having earned a master of science degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2017 with an emphasis in AODA and child/adolescence counseling. He earned a bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation with an emphasis in mental health and recreational rehabilitation from UW-Stout, as well.

While earning his degree at UW-Stout, Bond earned three varsity letters for the football program where he was a standout defensive back with 11 career pass breakups, three interceptions and 58 total tackles (4.0 for loss, 1.0 sack).
