Jessa Richards helped lead the Vikings to a 2-0 record this past weekend on the road in Winona, Minn. The Vikings jumped out to a 2-1 lead over the Warriors, winning the No.1 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Richards and Sydney Postal came away with an 8-3 win. Richards moved up three spots to No. 7 in the ITA Central Region singles rankings and the junior proved it by winning her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0 over Brianna Havelka. On Sunday versus Upper Iowa, the No. 1 duo of Richards and Postal battled back and forth winning the top doubles match 9-8 with a tie-breaker victory of 7-3 to improve to 16-0 on the season. In the No. 1 singles match, Richards battled against Iris Verweij of Upper Iowa, taking the first set 6-2. The Eden Prairie, Minn. native was tested in the second set, but came out on top with a 7-5 victory to improve to 13-2 on the season.Â
