MSAL Make-A-Wish 5k

April 26, 2025 - 9 a.m. - Kirkeby-Over Stadium Tailgate Lot

Join Augustana Student-Athletes as they help make a wish come true! For the past several years, Make-A-Wish has partnered with Augustana SAAC, and this year, the students of the MSAL program are excited to join this meaningful collaboration. Our mission is to raise awareness about the power of granting a wish, all while engaging the Sioux Falls community in the effort.

Our ultimate goal is to raise $10,000 to fulfill the wish of a child battling a critical illness, while bringing together both the Sioux Falls community and Augustana University. We invite participants to enjoy a fun, social atmosphere, complete with snacks, drinks after the run. We want our participants to feel free to hang around to watch some of Augustana’s athletic events, such as the spring football game, baseball games, and the acrobatics and tumbling national meet!

The event route will loop around the university twice, starting and finishing in the football tailgate lot on the west side of stadium.  Check-in begins at 8am and will go until the start of the race at 9am.

The Vikings 5K is a student-run, student-led event put on by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the students of the Masters in Sports Administration and Leadership program at Augustana University. By supporting Make-A-Wish and Augustana SAAC, you reflect shared values of compassion and community, making a meaningful difference in the lives of children facing critical illnesses.

We’re excited to share an impactful initiative that aligns with Augustana University’s values and supports a great cause. Our MSAL capstone class is planning to host a 5K run around campus on Spring Football Day to help Augustana reach its goal of raising $10,000 for Make-A-Wish.

This event provides an excellent opportunity for the Augustana community—students, alumni, and local supporters—to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of children facing critical illnesses. By participating in the 5K, attendees will directly contribute to the Make-A-Wish foundation, bringing us closer to fulfilling the goal of granting a child's wish.
