Oscar Ramirez Jr. was the lone Viking to place at the Midwest Classic, finishing in sixth at 149 pounds. On the first day, Ramirez Jr. went 3-0 advancing to the semifinals. Ramirez Jr. defeated two ranked wrestlers at 149 en route to his semifinals berth. In the second round he won by injury default over No. 7 Kyle Barkovich of UIndy and in the quarterfinals defeated No. 6 Isaiah Kemper of McKendree by a 10-6 decision. Ramirez Jr. won his opening match by a 10-5 decision over Jody McAlister of Newberry.
