Tommy Flyger, Tommy Ellingworth Garner NCC Player of the Week Honors

Augustana's Tommy Flyger and Tommy Ellingworth were recognized by the North Central Conference office for their performances in the Vikings' 54-6 win over Upper Iowa on Saturday. Flyger was named the Offensive Co-Player of the Week, while Ellingworth was tabbed as the Special Teams Co-Player of the Week.

Flyger shared the Offensive Player of Week award with South Dakota quarterback Wes Beschorner, while Ellingworth split the Special Teams Player of the Week award with Jacob Chandler of Nebraska-Omaha.

Flyger, a junior quarterback from Sioux Falls, S.D., completed 21 of 30 passes for 293 yards. He also set a school record by tossing 6 touchdown passes. He threw 2 TD passes to Ellingworth, 2 to Ryan Rothenberger and 1 each to Sam Ward and Dan Klumper.

In addition, Flyger carried the ball 7 times for 39 yards in helping the Vikings end the year on a three-game winning streak.

Ellingworth, a sophomore from Redwood Falls, Minn., had an exceptional all-around game. On special teams, he had 122 return yards. He returned 4 punts for 89 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown, his first career return for a TD. In addition, he returned 1 kickoff for 33 yards.

Ellingworth also had a field day as a wide receiver. He caught 8 passes for a career-high 153 yards and 2 touchdowns. H also rushed the ball 3 times for 27 yards.

Augustana finished the year with a 6-5 overall record. It was the Vikings' first winning season since 2002.
