The Vikings (11-3) jumped on SMSU early. Augie scored the first 7 points of the game. The Mustangs struggled at the outset as they did not score until the 14:30 mark. Augustana then reeled off 15 unanswered points to open a 22-2 lead with 9 minutes to play in the half.
Southwest Minnesota State (3-8) did not score again until there was 7:30 minutes left in the half to make the score 22-4. Augustana cooled off a little after that as SMSU trimmed the lead to 30-18 at halftime.
SMSU trimmed the lead to 8 at 32-24 early in the second half, but Augustana put the game away with a 21-0 run, making the score 53-24 with 9:27 to play.
Alison Adamson led Augie with 19 points, while
Andrea Seefeldt and
Ashley Holiday aded 17 and 10 points, respectively.
