Four Augustana College student-athletes will compete at this week's 2005 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for May 26-28 in Abilene, Texas.
Competing for the Viking men will be
Luke Baltrusch in the steeplechase. Three women will also compete, featuring
Jen Buyske in the javelin,
Rachel Stangler in the steeplechase and
Lindsey Schultz in the discus.
Baltrusch is a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. He is ranked third in the nation heading into the championships with a season-best time of 9:00.94, a school record. He was fourth in the nation last year to earn All-America honors.
Buyske, a freshman from Shelby, Mont., is ranked fourth in the country with a season-best mark of 152-5, which is a school record. Stangler, a sophomore from Albany, Minn., is 14th in the nation with a time of 10:58.25, also a school record. Finally, Schultz, a freshman from Lakeville, Minn., is ranked 16th in Division II with a mark of 149-9.
The top 8 finishers in each event earn All-America honors.
