Augustana's
Rachel Stangler and
Shelby Eykyn each turned in impressive performances Friday afternoon at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolf Invitational at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Stangler won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:26.25. Her time is an NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying mark.
Eykyn meanwhile finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 8.80 seconds. That mark lowered her provisional national qualifying time. Eykyn finished behind Oklahoma Baptist's Latoya Greaves and Nickiesha Wilson, who are the two top-ranked hurdlers in NAIA.
The rest of the Viking track and field teams will be in action Saturday at the Graphic Edge Open in Vermillion, S.D. Collegiate events begin at 9 a.m.
