Mary Stoll Finishes Fifth in 800 meters to Become All-American

Mary Stoll finished fifth in a tightly contested 800 meter final to earn All-America honors at the 2006 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday in Boston, Mass.

Stoll, a senior from Sioux Falls, S.D., qualified ninth for the finals on Friday. She needed to finish eighth to gain All-America recognition.

In a race in which third and eighth places were separated by 1 second, Stoll crossed the finish line in fifth place in a time of 2:13.13 to earn her first All-American certificate.

Venessa Lee of Pittsburg State won the race in a time of 2:08.95.
