Shane Kieler of Monona, Wis., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Augustana College and play basketball for the Vikings, Augustana head coach
Tom Billeter announced today.
Kieler is a 6-foot-3 guard/forward at Monona Grove High School. A two-year starter for the Silver Eagles, Kieler averaged 20 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during his senior season. He also shot 54 percent from the field, 50 percent from the 3-point line and 82 percent from the free throw line. He helped the Silver Eagles to a 20-7 record and a second-place finish at the state tournament.
As a junior, Kieler averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 90 percent from the free throw line in helping Monoma Grove to a 16-6 record.
Kieler twice earned All-Badger South Conference First Team honors. He was a first-team all-area selection as a senior after garnering honorable mention recognition as a junior. In addition, he was named to the all-state fourth team and the state tournament all-tournament team in 2005-06.
“Shane will be a very good addition to our team,” Billeter said. “Not only is he a terrific student, he is an outstanding basketball player. He is an excellent shooter and has very good instincts for the game.”
Kieler joins a recruiting class that already includes
David Foster of Big Timber, Mont.,
Chad Hettermann of Johnsburg, Ill., and
Jordan Dalton of Gurnee, Ill.
