Per (pronounced Pair)
Nestingen of Minneapolis, Minn., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Augustana College and play baseball for the Vikings, head coach
Dan Richards announced.
Nestingen was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner at Minneapolis South High School. A right-handed pitcher, Nestingen compiled a 5-2 record during his senior season. In 51 2/3 innings of work, he had a 1.62 earned run average and struck out 77 batters. He led the Minneapolis City Conference in strikeouts and was second in ERA. Offensively, Nestingen had a .455 batting average with 33 RBIs and 3 home runs. As a junior, Nestingen posted a 5-1 record on the mound with a 0.89 ERA.
Nestingen was an all-conference first team selection as well as a Class 5AAA all-state honorable mention performer. In addition, he was selected to play in the East vs. West All-Star Showdown. He also earned honorable mention all-conference recognition in 2005 after helping the Tigers toa 20-4 record and the Twin City championship.
"We are extremely excited that Per will be joining our program," Richards said. "A dominant high school pitcher, he posesses the natural ability and confidence to excel at the college level. Per will be a great addition to Augustana on the field, in the clubhouse and on campus."
