Abby Schmidt became the Vikings' career digs record holder as Augustana swept Northern State in 3 games, 30-16, 30-21, 30-22 Tuesday night at the Elmen Center.
The Vikings (7-7) were never threatened in the match as they had a season-best .341 attack percentage while liming NSU (7-7) to a .151 attack percentage.
But the night belonged to Schmidt, a senior libero from Elkhorn, Neb. A 4-year starter, Schmidt had 12 digs to give her 1,699 career digs. That total breaks the previous record of 1,697, set by Sara Larson from 2000-03.
Andrea Oswald led the Viking offensive attack. Oswald pounded 15 kills and registered a season-best .542 attack percentage.
Terrin Post was close behind with 13 kills, while
Cayla Schroeder and
Ellen Andrews had 10 kills apiece. Schroeder had a .692 attack percentage as she had only 1 attack error in 13 attempts.
Setter
Lisa Hoegh distributed the ball effectively as she recorded 51 kill assists. She also tallied a match-high 13 digs. Schroeder added 10 digs for a double-double.
Odemaris Diaz paced Northern State with 16 of the Wolves' 34 kills. NSU, however, had 16 attack errors and were the victim of 6 Viking service aces.
Augustana returns to North Central Conference action this weekend as the Vikings play at North Dakota on Friday and at St. Cloud State on Saturday. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
