Augustana Weekly NotesThe 13th-ranked Augustana College volleyball team (16-7, 5-3 NCC) travels south this weekend to take on conference opponent Nebraska-Omaha on Friday at the Sapp Field House. On Saturday, the Vikings head to No. 6 Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. for a non-conference matchup. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
Nebraska-Omaha (12-8, 4-4 NCC) had a stellar week last week sweeping Upper Iowa on Tuesday before doing the same to South Dakota on Friday. The last time the Mavericks and the Vikings met, Augustana defeated UNO in straight sets at the Elmen Center. Carlie Christensen leads the offensive attack for the Mavericks, averaging 3.82 kills per game. Ellen Thommes contributes 3.10 kills per game and setter Katie Agnew averages 12.07 set assists per game.
No. 6 Truman State (26-4, 9-1 MIAA) most recently defeated Northwest Missouri State on Saturday 3-0. The Bulldogs are on a nine game winning streak, last losing to Washburn in five games on October 2. Truman is led offensively by Susie Lechler and Melissa Keck, averaging 3.19 and 3.15 kills per game.
